I took my first 50 mg. of Serzone yesterday, and I am having some pretty overwhelming anxiety. Does anyone know if this will go away with time? I know mileage may vary and all that, but isn't this an atypical reaction to this medication? I am going to try to tough it out for a few more days since I all the ssri's do this initially to me. It always went away though. please someone respond, since I desperately need some reassurance.

I've been taking Serzone for about a month now.
I was at 300mg/day. The doc at the hospital
increased my dosage to 600mg/day.I don't remember any initial increase in anxiety,
but at the dosage I'm taking now I fell very little,
if any, anxiety. Then again, the hospital doc
increased my Klonopin dosage from 2mg/day to
4mg/day.Good Luck

Sherry, at first when I took Serzone, I felt really anxious, dizzy, and had mood swings (incl. anger for no reason). After two weeks, I felt GREAT though. My social anxiety was down to zero. I'd be happy to still be taking it if it decreased OCD (unfortunately, although it is a great antidepressant, it doesn't do much for OCD).Sometimes, anxiety is an initial side effect of various AD; when I started Effexor-XR, I felt anxious and had trouble sleeping, but this has stopped.--Cindy W

Thanks so much for the response. I'm not sure that the anxiety is actually coming from the medication or the fact that I am trying something new. Last night I went outside and played basketball with my children, and that is something I usually lack the energy to do. I have also noticed that my feelings are much more intense. Usually I have none, not sadness, not happiness, not anything. I will hang in there though, because I do not want to look back and regret that I did not give it a proper trial. Thanks for the support. Sometimes that is all that is needed in order to go on.

When I first started serzone, I did have intense emotionality. I felt anxious and upset, like crying a lot. It wore off after a few weeks. I remember others on this board saying similar things about having initial emotionality, including rage. I think it is worth giving it a fair trial.
