My doctor gave me ativan for anxiety, but I don't think I want to take it anymore, I've been on it for about 1 month, will I have problems stopping it suddently, did I take it long enough to cause addiction or am I just being silly? Please let me know

If I were taking 1mg/day for a month I would step down
the dose over ~2 weeks, which is probably a week
longer than needed but this means I will feel no
negative effects for sure.If you are not taking it every day there is nothing to worry about.
I have taken it for 15 years, not everyday, with no problems with addiction. I do find
that if I need to take Atavin for sleep more than 2 nights (1 mg)
then I need to do a night or so at .5 mgs. Please consult your doc about this so you can decide
together and he can tell you the dosing schedule best
for you. How significant was your anxiety and what
are your reasons for stopping ?

Hi James, my Doc put me on both Ativan and Serzone, my axiety levels were pretty high, but now that the serzone started to work for my depression I feel less and less anxious, plus I'm trying new techniques such as meditation and relaxation for anxiety. I was not taking it every day (only at the beginning) but I was afraid that if I stopped taking it suddenly I find myself with withdrawal symptoms. By the way, what are the symptoms of ativan withdrawal anyway?
