I've tried just about everything over the past nine years. Some worked well short-term, then lost their efficacy, while others did nothing for me at all. Effexor seems to be treating the depression pretty well, but has just about put an end to my sex life. Has anyone found a supplement that might offset this rather cruel side effect?

If all of the usual antidotes have failed, try Viagra, even in a tiny dose (cut the pill in thirds). This is said to work for both women and men. It worked while I was on Prozac, whereas NOTHING else did. Obviously, it is important to discuss this with your doctor because people with heart conditions shouldn't take the drug. Also, it is expensive, but since you'll probably be able to get by on half or a third of a pill, the costs will be offset somewhat.

If I'm really worried about it, I decrease it temporarily from 375 to 300 mg/day, which pretty much eliminates the side effects. I've heard that Wellbutrin helps though.--Cindy W
P.S. have you already tried Serzone, instead of Effexor-XR? Serzone is said to have almost no sexual side effects.

Cindy is right -- Serzone has almost no sexual side effects. Luckily, for me, it had absolutely none.
