Hello Babblers!
Just a quickie, cause I have to see my pdoc today. He put me on Celexa a couple weeks ago, right around the time when I was considering altering my existence to a human skeleton so it would be easier to eventually keel over. Anyway, I felt like I had a big ol cottonball in my head. I could not concentrate for the life of me and felt like complete ka-ka. Which was not good since before I took it I felt like poo, which I think is remotely better than ka-ka. I think I might need a 6 year olds' opinion on that one! Ayway, I was soooooo sleepy and couldn't concentrate and I had a mid term exam. So I stopped. (Got a 92 on the exam!)
The thing is, I have taken celexa+wellbutrin and this never happened, so it must be interacting w/ the ritalin, the new guy in my head. Has this happened to anyone before? I need to try to get on something more than what I am on now over the next few weeks, before my cycle hits, or all the po and ka-ka will most likely hit the fan, and I will be once again reduced to waste product. Any idea on what I should try? I was thinking prozac. Anything sedating makes me a zombie.
Please let me know suggestions, especially so I can get something out of telling 100's of people my menstrual cycle! Now that's bonding!
Also, I am not telling him about my new Lucidril experiment. I feel he would drop me if he knew. Malpractice issues and all.
Oh, and one more ?, Ritalin's addictive props. bother me. Is adderall better in that arena? I take 40mg. SR daily.
Sorry, I know you guys thought you were going to get a quickie, but I am a demanding little psycho, high maintenance!Michele

I can't comment on celexa, as I am not familiar with it personally. Ritalin SR, for me, was mediocre compared to Adderall, which I just started a few weeks ago. I have been on Ritalin for about 5-6 years, and it has never been addictive for me.
Your cottonball description reminded me that when I was hypothyroid, I felt like I had a head full of cotton.

Tee, Hee nothing like going to see your pdoc regarding your ADD (well, and depression too) and going on the day following your appointment! Anyone do that? I sat there listening to some guy tell me his whole life story, his wife has child prot. after him, he won some sort of lottery, he's a father in training. All the while his daughter is giving him punchbuggies. After about 20 minutes of this, I was seriously considering billing this motormouth, when it occured to me I might be there on the wrong day. HAHAHA. Anyone ever do that?
Noa--
If it is not too much trouble, could you tell me your experience with Adderall vs. Ritalin? Why did you switch, etc.?
I am considering asking to do the same thing. Thanks!
Michele

For a long while, my pdoc and I had this in mind--to try Adderall instead of Ritalin, because the Ritalin SR was ok, but not doing that much for me. So, when other things were stable--meds, health, etc., I asked to try it, and I knew right away it was better. I felt a difference on that first day: I felt calm, focused, alert.

>> Michele,
You've been making me laugh. I was just diagnosed little over a month ago and put on adderall, (you can read my string that says "stimulants (adderall) make my heart skip !!!"). Anyway, I think I'm just a freak case, but I was wondering how wellbutrin worked for you. I too have exams this week and the adderall does help, but I think I want to try something else. I've heard it can take a while. My ADD is primarily inattentive type with out hyperactivity, which means I would think that I'd benefit more from the stimulants since I'm slow, out of it, indecisive etc.
Oh, just to let you know, I'm king of stuff like goin to appointments on the wrong day, walking into the wrong classroom. In fact, during my first appointment ever, (before I got diagnosed and I was looking into it) my doctor told me to stop at the desk and make another appointment. I walked right out the door instead. he had to call me a couple of days later to find out what was going on.
Anyway, I will tell you that most everyone that I know who's taking adderall really likes it. One kid's been taking it for 2 years and hasn't had any problems with it, although I have heard here and there that it can be addictive when you don't take vacations from it (ie one or two days now and then).Later,
Jared
