I suffer from PAD, OCD, and depression. I also get severe acid reflux every time I have a relaps. Can't tolerate SSSRIs (make my reflux worse); tried Remeron and Effexor without luck. My pdoc put me on an old AD, Nortriptyline. It has the least anti-cholinergic effects (To much makes the reflux worse.) I am on 60mg of the Nor. now which is about half of the therapeutic dose. I also take Xanax and Neurontin. My pdoc wants to augment with Seroquel now to boost the antidepressant effects of the Nor. He also thinks it would help with anxiety, and OCD. I am scared of this med from what I have read about it. Wouldn't an increase of Neurontin do the same?
I would appreiate any input from anybody that has experience with Seroquel, or would now a better approach (Keeping GI problems in mind). Thanks.

In reply to Seroquel - experiences, advise - Cam, anybody, posted by Margit on March 1, 2001, at 22:11:54
I find it very confusing why pdocs are so quick to prescribe an AP to anyone without psychotic symptoms. That being said seroquel was sedating for me, but not very effective with the auditory hallucinations I was experiencing. Rather turning to a major tranquilizer, it would seem a simpler approach would be to increase your benzo for anxiety. Good luck, Judy
