I was on max doses of Paxil and Remeron 4 years ago for 9 months and I felt wonderful. I felt like I was alive for once in my life, with no anxiety! (and everything that comes with it). I suddenly got sick of taking so much medication so I quit cold-turkey...and went crazy for 3 months. It took all my energy not to really hurt someone, or myself.
3 weeks ago I went into the hospital for depression, anxiety, and to prevent myself from commiting suicide. I was put on Paxil again (only because I took it before, not because the doc cared). After only 2-3 days I started to feel pretty good again, and two weeks later I felt great. After 3 weeks the only side effects I had were lots of yawns, sleepiness, a cold feeling inside my bones, and a little insomnia.
A new doctor switched me to Effexor XR 75mg 2 days ago, to replace the Paxil. I'm nauseated, lost 4 lbs already, can hardly make myself eat, can't sleep more than a couple hours, and feel just as depressed as when I went into the hospital. The ONLY thing good is that the anxiety isn't here to drive me mad.
I increase to 112.5 mg tomorrow, and I'm tempted to take 10mg of Paxil. I feel like crap. At least I knew what to expect with the Paxil.

Yeah but if you take the Paxil now you're not going to know which one works, the Paxil or the Effexor.

You are right, and today I actually felt hungry for the 1st time in 3 days. I think it's a good sign already. I've got my fingers crossed. It would be just too easy to go back to Paxil. It's just scary, a few days seems like weeks. I just hope it works for me like the doc say it should. I hate for people around me to notice my mood swings, which I haven't had for 3 weeks. Oh well, patience is a virtue, I keep telling myself that.
