I have been on Effexor XR 225mg for 3 years now and have experienced no sexual side affects. I will be getting engaged soon and would like to start birth control pills. Is it possible that the combo of BC pills and Effexor XR will kill my libido or my ability to orgasm? Does it matter what sort of BC pill I am on? (I know there's many out there)

Hi,
as i know the BC pill could have a lot of side effect, first of all sex desire reduction and could give (in any case) increasing of an pre-existent depression or new case of depression.
If you read the text enclose in the BCp you can notice that it has as a quantity of conta-effects like antidepressant pills!
No worry, i know it is depending on the ormonal rate (estero-progestynic) present in each brand.
If you can use a pill with a low ormonal profile (new pills), you probably will not have any side effect at all.
If you must have a high ormonal dosage pill, the things could change.
You can find on the market BCp with extraordinary difference in the ormonal tax.
Only your specialist MD could indicate you the right coumpond and, just like AD, probably you should try lot of different types before find the right for you!
