There was a very interesting article in Sunday's Chicago Tribune titled "Depression looks more like it's a physical thing" by Ronald Kotulak.
It starts with info about depression following stroke or head trauma as its premise, but it's a good overview of fMRI and PET imaging in seeing organic causes of major depression. I wonder how many of us have actually had multiple tiny, undiagnosable strokes that actually lead to depression. Maybe the answer to that question isn't far off....
