I haven't posted in awhile because I have been feeling good for almost a complete month, which is the longest stretch of time since my relapse back in Jan.
I am taking 75mg a effexor 3 x daily for a total of 225mg, and also a half of .5 of clonazepam 3 times daily for this last month. But as of two days ago my anxiety has returned which always brings me down.
I really wonder if my monthly cycle has anything to do with this, as I'm in ovulation right now.
I'm in tears because I thought I was on the road to a more stable me.
Does anyone have any experiece with this.

oh boy, not knowing anything about anything, i will stick my nose into it...as that has happened to me...have you gotten a check up for your hormones? sometimes topical application of OTC progesterone cream is all it takes to smooth things out for the last half month. Otherwise there are more potent Rx.

I have now been on my third month of the birth control pill Alesse. My gyno thought it would help to override my horomes. I think it has helped some because I would be severally anxious and depressed before my period and through the period and then during ovualtion. Which most of my month I felt pretty crappy. Also the increase in both of my medications I think has helped to a point. But this setback feels like old times. I have thought about going to an endocrinologist to get a thryoid test. I had one done in Jan from my regular family doctor and it came back normal. So hormones are a interesting thing.

I am another lucky soul who is ruled by my hormones. I have suffered two severe episodes of postpartum depression/anxiety (am currently going through one now) and have the same problem as you around ovulation time. I get very anxious and suffer insomnia for a few days. My doc doesn't want to put me on Alesse until he gets my antidepressent meds adjusted. Ask your doc for a complete hormone profile, including thyroid, estrogen, testosterone, progesterone levels. I had one when the depression started and my thyroid and estrogen were low. I don't know about you but I am so confused as to which treatment approach would be best- hormonal or psychotropic meds. I just keep trying everything in hopes of feeling normal again.

nmk, keep in mind, it could and probably is, both. When I went to see a gynocoloist recently, along with commenting that it appeared I had discovered that doctors know very little about almost everything,That the effect of hormones on mood was unexplored. she asked, had I noticed a change since my cycles stopped two years ago? I answered, that I had noticed a difference, mostly that the mood cycles happened more frequently. So, she commented, that it was one less thing to deal with. All I know, is, something is wrong. Keep looking for answer for you.
