I'm finally starting to stabilize after an 8 month crash into a mixed state. My mood is better, my anxiety and agitation is gone, and I'm not suicidal. But I still don't feel like I remember feeling at other times in my life.
If I don't set an alarm I'll sleep for 12 hours or more - is that normal or could it be the 100mg of seroquel? I don't feel sedated in the morning once I get up. It just seems incredibly difficult to get up and get motivated. If I take less than 100mg I don't get a good sleep (although I'm still not sure I'm getting a good sleep now).
Just wondering if anyone else sleeps this long or if I'm just lazy or too sedated.

Hi
I also can sleep 12 hours and am on Seroquel (150mg at night, 50mg in the morning). Can never really tell if I'm in bed and depressed/hopeless (which has increased as the SAD season progresses) or if it's drug related. When my alarm goes during the week, it definitely wakes me out of a deep sleep (and I'm dreaming once again). I'm on Seroquel as a mood stabilizer and sleep assistant.
I don't sweat it... Enjoy the time not conscious in fact - sometimes wish I could sleep 12 hours during the week too (and sometimes do go to bed early - like 8pm and up at 6:15...)
My experience...

Thanks for the reply. Its been driving me so crazy (showing up late for work, etc) that I decided to try reducing the dose. Dropped from 100mg to 50mg at bedtime and I'm having a much easier time getting up. I wake up after about 8 hours instead of 12. Sometimes I still don't want to get out of bed but I can if I need to. I just hope I can continue to sleep at this dose. Lack of sleep is why we raised it before...

The seroquel is most definitely making you sleepy. I took it last spring specifically for that side effect. It did make me sleep nicely, but after a few weeks it started making me really groggy in the morning so I kept cutting the dose back until I was taking hardly any and yet still groggy. (Yet without the seroquel I couldn't sleep!) I have taken just about every sleep aid/AD combo there is and had tremendous problems at work because of my sleep problems. Unfortunatley, nothing worked long term for me. The best thing was trazodone, but that has caused problems, too. Good luck.
This is the end of the thread.
