Hello all,
I wrote to this list back in March about all the weight I've gained on Prozac. I had started Prozac in 1997 and by the spring of 2001 I had gained 70 pounds. (40 pounds of it was within the first 6 months or so). I know I can't be sure ALL of it was from the Prozac, but there weren't any other changes in my diet or exercise regimen. Sometime during this past summer I slowly tapered off of Prozac and have been completely free of it for several months. What I'm wondering is, is it likely that I will lose most of the weight that I gained? If so, should it be starting to drop now? I was only 17 when I started Prozac and I will be 24 in May of this year and I had never had a problem before Prozac. Any other info would be much appreciated!

Amy,
I feel bad b/c I don't have answer for you. I am so confused about weight gain and AD's. You go to the official drug sites and your pdoc agrees: no, you won't gain weight from this med.
But then you do!
I wish I had an answer for you.......
I am on Effexor XR for over a month now. So far I've kept my weight in check by eating very little and taking a small amount of Wellbutrin in the afternoon b/c I tend to eat more in the evenings. The Wellbutrin does work to curb my appetite but it's such a stimulator for me, I am totally revved up at bedtime.
I wish you the best--it's so hard to be overweight.
