Wellbutrin for ADHD?

Posted by mshyper on February 26, 2003, at 0:10:15

Hi,

My husband's doc is saying that he may put my husband on Wellbutrin for the ADHD once he gets him off the dreaded Effexor. Husband cannot tolerate stims. Has tried Strattera but has some severe unworkable SE's. Anyone know how Wellbutrin works for ADHD without depression?

Be careful -- WB can be very anxiogenic (= causes anxiety). It was for me, and some others. But it also works well for some people. The only way to know is to try it, but I'd insist on a low dose (75 mg/day or less) to start. Some doctors just don't believe that these drugs can cause side effects, amazingly enough.

Yea. I was taking it for ADD (trying to get off it). I was only taking a small amount (cutting a 100mg pill in 1/4's) in the morning and other stim in the afternoon as the wellbutrin in higher doses did make me more anxious and also either taking it or stopping it can cause tinnitus which I think did happen to me but it comes and goes. Not in everyone but Ive read many people talking about the tinnitus thing. My advice would be dont take it.
