Anybody's depression WORSEN on amisulpride?

Posted by BoBo_C on March 31, 2003, at 22:28:31

Hi-
I just got through a four-week trial of amisulpride. Two weeks were at 50mg, and the second two at 100mg. My other full time medications:
Adderall XR 60mg/day
Zoloft 200mg/day
Klonopin 2mg/day
Avodart(dutasteride) 1mg/day (for hair loss)

I began to discern a definite darkening of mood a few days after beginning the third week at 100mg, culminating in an all-out 'crash' by the end of the fourth. I stopped the medicine, and felt immediately better. Better than before I started it, in fact.

Has anyone else had this experience on amisulpride? It was a great disappointment, especially after reading about the success AndrewB and others on this board have had with it, and the closeness of AndrewB's described symptoms to mine(significant social phobia/dysthymia).

Thanks for any thoughts, experiences, or feedback.

I have the dysthymia/ social phobia combo also, and very badly. I tried amisulpride at 50 mgs and it didnt help, but didnt make me worse either. i woke up this morning feeling very socially anxious and depressed and my pdoc has just put me on 500mgs seroquel (another ap). could be the dopamine blocking action of seroquel that does this. but i dont know, ill have to wait longer to find out. what i find interesting is that a cup of coffe will make me much less socially anxious and relieve alot of the depression only to make both symtoms worse than before after about 1 hour. all stims do this to me. currently interested in things ive heard about mood stabilizers decreasing stim tolerance. im on second week lamictal.
