is it okay to smoke pot and take meds? I am on adderall prozac and klonopin....just recently increased prozac from 20 to 40mg. It seems lately, everytime i smoke, my heart starts racing and i have a lot of anxiety. Could the increase in prozac trigger this, or is it something else? I've always had mild anxiety though, its just gotten worse lately.

Well pot itself increases heart rate, and it often causes anxiety as well, particularly in people with pre-existing anxiety disorders.Adderall + pot seems like a more likely combination to cause a racing heart and anxiety, but I assume you've combined these two before without any problems.
My guess is that you are just responding to pot differently than you once did. You said your anxiety has gotten worse lately, and that is likely why you are more anxious when you smoke now.
Also, becoming more sensitive to the negative effects of marijuana (anxiety, paranoia, etc.) is a commonly reported phenomenon that happens to pot smokers as they age.
It is possible that the increase in Prozac is a factor - probably indirectly by increasing your anxiety on a day to day level (SSRIs often cause anxiety for a few weeks before they become anti-anxiety). Prozac can also be somewhat "activating", so the stimulating effects of pot may be more apparent now.

Wow. Thanks for all the info, I am using it to help me reevaluate my med combo....Not to say im choosing pot over prozac...but since I increased my prozac to 40mg, I have generally had more anxiety and problems with word recall. Im not sure I want to take prozac anymore, or maybe there is an alternative ssri, or snri that is prone to help reduce the anxiety and help depression? It is true that I iam responding differently to pot now than I have in the past. In highschool I loved the stuff, and the first couple years of college. But I stopped for awhile, (almost 7 months) and now when I smoke, it effects me differently....I just want that old feeling back....I have always been skeptical of the ssri's. Thanks again for the advice. - kyle
