Does anyone have severe neck pain as part of their anxiety, like a BIG part of it? Had tests and nothing really showed up but REALLY tense muscles. I take Klonopin and have weaned down and would like to be off of it, but whenever I don't take it for a few days the neck and upper back tension and PAIN return. I can't figure if it's the lack of Klonopin or my ANXIETY trying to come back, or both? Thankfully, I don't seem to have the other horrible sypmtoms of panic and fear I had before using the Klonopin. Am I just weird or what? Do people stay on Klonopin for a routine long time and do OK with it?

sore neck muscles are pretty common with anxiety. if the klonopin helps, then I see no reason not to continue taking it- some people take benzos for decades with no negative side effects. take care, judy

Right now, with my neck THROBBING, sounds like an excellent plan. Thanks, I needed to hear the encouragement.

I agree with Judy, if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. There is something to be said for stability.

I agree with the other posters -- if K works, I'd stick with it. It's helped me a lot, and I haven't had to increase the dosage after almost two years of use. Benzos are very safe drugs for short- or long-term use in most people who need them.
I had recurring neck and upper back pain (classic for anxiety sufferers) until I got onto K; that problem (and many others) disappeared once I started K, and I intend to stay on it. BTW, I tried various ADs and had severe side effects that didn't diminish over time; benzos seem much "cleaner" to me.

I had a stiff neck/upper back, which I thought was from anxiety, for about ten years. The only thing that would give me temporary relief was Valium. But then I withdrew from Valium because I was feeling totally dependent on it, and guess what-- I haven't had a stiff neck since I came off the valium (that was 15 years ago)! I still have some free floating anxiety and some atypical depression, but the neck/upper back stiffness that plagued me every day has never returned. So, in my case, I think the neck stiffness was some sort of rebound anxiety that resulted from the valium use. I know it sounds crazy, but . . .

I, too, suffer from headache, neckache and backache. Just wondering what dose of clonazepam you folks are on. My pdoc wants me on 4 mg per day but the thought of getting that "hooked" really scares me.
