OK, so its been decided that I'll come off the Reboxetine.
I see Psych again in 3 weeks, and I bought up about trying a tricyclic.. but he's really not happy with that idea. he said he'd think about it, but only if my husband would go see him and promise to keep my meds locked up and give me a dose each day!!!!!! That seems so stupid to me. And I know my husband wouldn't go see him and do this.
So it seems my med days are over. With only tricyclics and MAOI's left to try (and I won't try MAOI's, I am scared of them and their dietry restrictions.. things I eat alot of in my diet, and yes, cutting half my diet out would upset me more) it seems I have run out of options.
Oh well. And having CBT once every 5 weeks is sooo helpful.. not!

What prompted your decision to stop your med?
I know you hadn't been feeling well lately, are things better for you?
I'm sending you good thoughts!

I think its increasing my panic a HUGE amount. Over the two months I;ve been on it, my panic attacks ahve escalated hugely, and I'm having really big problems going out. I;m having CBT, but can't get to the bottom of why its happening.
A few people mentioned this happened to them when they were on reboxetine, so today I saw pdoc and we agreed for me to stop it.
So, its not that it worked.. its that it didn't!

I really know what you mean. My Wellbutrin isn't treating me well in regard to anxiety. I'm in the process of ditching it. Back to my tried and true Klonopin and hope the depressive symptoms I had will abate... I'm more depressed now due to the awful return of the anxiety - hateful mess.
I hope you work your stuff out.

> Nikki xFirst: TCA's and MAOI's are the most effective AD's for severe depression. There seems to be a law, unfortunately, that the more effective a drug is, the greater its (potential) toxicity. It seems to me that the very fact your doctor is so concerned about overdose implies that your depression is so severe (or acute) that you NEED an antidepressant. And not a weak one... Why wouldn't your husband see your doc? Doesn't he realize the danger you're in? WHY wouldn't he help you out?
Or alternatively, your dr. could prescribe a week's worth (or less) of meds at a time. A week's worth of a starting dose of nortriptyline would be unlikely to be fatal.
Either way, if your situation is so dire that your dr. suspects you will try to OD, these seem like reasonable courses of action to me.
As for CBT... I can attribute only PART of my recently reduced level of anxiety to my starting Klonopin. I think ditching CBT was itself quite a powerful anxiolytic.
I hope you can make through this difficult time somehow.
