The withdrawal was terrible. I was actually suicidial this weekend...I've never had symptoms come on so fast or so hard. My husband begged me to take 25 mg for a few months and then slowly wean.
It seemed like a good idea. Quitting smoking wasn't this hard!

Did you taper off very slowly, or in "chunks"? For example, did you go from 50mgs down to 25mgs right away? Or did you quit cold turkey?
The reason I ask is my daughter is on this drug, which is wonderful for her I might add, but when the time comes to stop it I'm going to be very concerned

Cold Turkey 50 mg to zero. I did not know that I should wean. I should have counsulted my pdoc, but I don't like him very much and want to find a new one. I went back on 25 mg and feel much better.
Better to be on an SSRI than be depressed, but coming off is hard. I've read that not everyone suffers from withdrawal symptoms, but I don't know if that is true. I think it depends on how long you took the drug and what the dose is.
