Wellbutrin Xl and plain the same?

Posted by Mandybella on June 10, 2004, at 12:15:09

I posted earlier but did not get much response. I am on 300mg of Wellbutrin XL and doing well. After gastric bypass surgery, I will not be able to take XL. Does plain Wellbutrin work the same, just need more doses? What other med would be comparable to Wellbutrin? And on a different subject, when will cymbalta be released? Thanks

i recently switched from regular wellbutrin to XL. i thought the only difference was that the XL was a slower release of the med. don't quote me, though.

Wellbutrin is in a class of its own. There are no similar or comparable drugs to Wellbutrin (at least not in the U.S.). That was unfortunate news from my pdoc after my Wellbutrin Seizures :(
No other medicine helped me like Wellbutrin. Im currently (since Feb, when I had my seizures) still tring to find the proper balence of Meds to level me out. Ill let you know how it goes.
Wellbutrin Xl; Wellbutrin sr; Wellbutrin (immideate release) are chemically the same. They are just released at different rates of time in the body. I personally preffered the sr version.
Best wishes,
Cindy

I dont know anything about Cymbalta
