Wellbutrin is a mentally activating medication at 300-450 a day. It increases your intrest in what ever your intrested in.
Its main side effects are increased anxiety and sometimes irrtibility since it does have stimulating properties, so its not the med if you have an anxiety disorder. More for energy deprivation, and motivation.Lexapro i belive is an SSRI, im not very fond of them. But it can be helpful for anxiety, but i've never taken SSRI's so i dont really know.
Wellbutrin at 150mg a day causes some activation, but not to the full effect. If you suffer from anxiety, stay with this dose.
Post back if its causing you problems
Take Care

Thanks for info!!
doctor thought cause of side effects of the lex that wellbutrin was next step
two days after I started weening off the lex my panic attacks came back my doc called in xanax for me but was still going to be two days till I could pick it up!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday I started both meds(By the way I dont like pills dont even take meds when I have the flu)sleep like a rock last night only woke up once so hope side effect of both are less than the lex. cause this sleeping stuffs pretty nice!!!I cant remember everything you wrote but was somthing about this med not good for people with panic or anxiety disorders the doc gave the welbutrin for depression but said it would help with the panic attacks (up here in Alaska we have some god awfull percentage of people have depression or S.A.D disorder cause of dark 24-7) gave me the xanax to help in between cause takes two weeks for the other to kick in! I am worried because The lex started helping right away two weeks sounds like a long time is it because there different kinds of meds.

Last year I was rx'ed Wellbutrin when I should have been on an SSRI for seasonal aff. depression. i believe they have proven to be most effective for the condition (as far as AD's go) and I suffered horribly with depression until I got back on an SSRI (Lexapro) mid-way thru December.
Wellbutrin also ramped up my anxiety level(s).
Lexapro has been the best SSRI/AD I have ever taken (admist past exp.'s with Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Effexor XR) for seasonal aff. depression. I personally can note no adverse side-effects on Lexapro this time, either!
Best,

When I first went to the doc I was put on effexor xr I was told I S.A.D disorder well Im stubborn I told myself there had to be something "REALLY" wrong with me I only tryed it for a month dont remember any side effects It took two years for things to get bad enough to have to go to doc again this time twice as bad so I was willing to give the meds a chance before I didnt have one!! so tryed lexapro 10 the side effects that I was having was: cotton head there was nothing going on up there no thoughts since I seem to play things over and over again in my head was kinda cool but got real upset when "I wasnt thinkin" and forgot that it was friday school pic day I know could happen to anyone but started more often. Then I was also having bad headaches and jaw clenching so only got to be on that for 18 days but after two days on lex panic attacks went away but was still in total despair in tears so went thru the whole med change thing only on day two but seem to be holding together am really confused about all the different types of meds should I start a journal about each med side effects cause it seems it took some of you alot of trail and error or did you just finnally weigh the effect for the benifet

Wellbutrin was definitely bad for my anxiety, had to take klonopin the entire time I was on it. I have never taken Lexapro, however, I have taken lots of other SSRI's and SNRI's and find them better for anxiety/panic combined with depression. Actually, if your primary symptoms are depression with anxiety Wellbutrin is not necessarily the best choice.
What are the primary and/or major symptoms that you are looking for relief from? Do you have major depression, and/or SAD? Panic disorder and/or GAD?
It often times does require a lot of trial and error, and other times one just has to weigh the benefits against the side-effects in order to find the right med. You definitely should keep a journal of meds you try, record the mild side-effects, the mild positive responses, the major or unbearable side-effects, as well as the significant improvements. Be aware that many side-effects will improve after a while on the med and may be worth the wait if you are having a positive response. And yet, some side-effects will only get worse, especially if the med is not helping.
I guess my point is... Lexapro and Wellbutrin are very different agents and it really depends on what symptoms you are currently trying to treat as to which is better. The Lexapro "cotton-head" feeling is usually transient, as many of the meds have similar start-up effects.
Hope you're feeling better!

WOW I didnt realize there were so many people out there like me thought I was just messed up or broken was really hard to decided to go to the doc!!... so you finally "try" to get some help didnt realize that it would be hard. as far as lexapro it stopped the tears but couldnt think was walking around like a zombie for the thoughts that were in my head this was good I didnt feel that the side effect were that bad but I was pretty bad off when I sarted the med seen immediate result panic attacks stopped, stopped crying and I getting into thinking loops where I just go over and over hurtfull things that I could not change that even stopped!! The reason I was taken off was jaw clenching it has settled down but not stopped now on this other med welbutrin I feel pissed I am angry most of the time when something is on my mind I just say it not good since most of it is hurtfull or rude I dont feel any other side effects I only have a few days worth left of the xanax then will just be on one med maybe then I could better judge what is what cause right now I'm not sure I belive somewhere there has to be a happy medium
off subject a little but.. do alot of people have to take more than one med? cause I have went from not even taken asprin to popping pills all day ok well 3-4 a day I dont want this to be my life!
