Tianeptine+Tryptoph combo ??? Lar or Ed UK /anyone

Posted by jasmineneroli on December 29, 2004, at 18:35:23

Anyone:
Given that tryptophan is metabolized into serotonin and Tianeptine is a serotonin reuptake accelerator, will taking the 2 together cause much larger amounts of serotonin to be present at receptor sites, both pre & post synaptically??

I understand that Tianepetine will prevent the serotonin from being eaten up by MAO enzymes, but I am wondering if the end result will be a sort of "flooding" of serotonin produced by the tryptophan I'm taking, instead of a merely "efficient" serotonin metabolism.
Will this:
1) create fatigue/drowsiness/apathy/satiety?
2) necessitate a reduction in my current tryptophan dosage?
3)cause serotonin syndrome? (I doubt this, but, I'm GAD y'know..so worry about everything!!).
4)dopamine down-regulation, or other dopamine effect?

What might you predict the effect to be on my mood, particularly in terms of a) Anxiety, and, b) Motivation/energy/drive ?

I think it will help me sleep well :)

I go to PDoc next week, and as usual, want all angles covered. Thanks a bunch, you guys.
Jas
