Hi there,
I have been on Wellbutrin for a few months and have noticed my PMS symtpoms are exacerbated. For example I am looking a bit like Pamela Anderson the few days before my period and other PMS symptoms are stronger.I have heard that some antidepressants mess with hormones and even prolactin. It is hard to find info on this so I thought I would ask other Women who are on it if they notice any change?

i am not a women but it makes sense. PMS is caused from a temp decrease in chemicals related to allpregnanolone, pregnanolone, progesterone, and ultimatly gaba-a receptor lowered. Welbutrin lowers the seizure threshold so its no surprise it would make PMS worse. It could also modulate allpregnanolone levels , as some antidepressants work just this way but usually positively, not negatively.

You bet there is a related effect with hormones and antidepressants. I was eight years POST menopause when I was started on Strattera. I had breezed through menopause (well sort of) But with the Strattera came the worst hot flashes immagineable -- and -- I would perodically spot as though I was having a period (which I had not had for ten years!! The docs all denied it then, but I believe they give it more credence today.
