Weight gain on Nardil?

Posted by FredPotter on April 4, 2006, at 16:01:03

Can someone please tell me if the weight gain on Nardil is as bad as with Zyprexa? I found Z even at 2.5 mg caused weight gain and sent my blood sugars up. I'm type II diabetic, but it's usually under control so long as my weight stays down. For the record I also take Effexor. Many thanks Fred

My guess is that one would gain more weight on Zyprexa than on Nardil if for no other reason than its effect to increase appetite. Nardil can produce cravings for carbohydrates, though. You might be able to avoid problems with weight gain and diabetes by taking metformin.

I am 99% sure that adding Nardil to Effexor will produce serotonin syndrome, at least at dosages of 60mg and higher. I would recommend against combining the two drugs.

Thanks Scott. I'm not going to combine the two. I think Zyprexa causes weight gain without increasing appetite, in my case at least

I'm pretty sure both drugs screw up glucose dynamics. I gained more weight in a shorter period of time with Zyprexa than I did with Nardil.

All I know is that I gained alot of weight on Nardil. Now Parnate is a different story. Don't look sideways at me, you'll miss me...that's how much weight I have lost on Parnate.
