Resuming diet after MAOI

Posted by Rocket Jackson on April 14, 2006, at 8:59:38

Generally how long should I wait before resuming a "normal" diet after discontinuing parnate? I've heard two weeks is a good rule of thumb, but has anyone seen evidence or otherwise have experience with restarting a diet in less time? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with this. Is there something in particular you want to resume eating?

For the most part I'm just worried about the best time to resume the variety of cheeses, aged meats, soy sauce, etc. I understand there is a variable period required for the body to replenish itself with "new" MAO enzymes due to the irreversible inhibition from the parnate. I just wasn't sure if there was a typical wait period before one can be considered safe to resume the no-no foods.

Thanks!
