Since I can't seem to take any of the serotonin drugs orally, I am stuck with the Emsam patch. For the past week I have cut one of the 6mg patches in half and used that along with some Xanax (Xanax doesn't depress me like Klonopin).
But, I am still pretty darn miserable. I feel like I am barely keeping my head above water. Maybe I need the whole patch. I don't know. I wish I could take one of the SSRIs. The urologist I went to seemed to think that maybe I was having a problem with the filler ingrediants in the SSRI/SNRIs. It seems odd to me that they ALL would give me bladder problems.
So far with the patch I haven't had any problems.
What I really need is an SSRI/SNRI in a patch. Or would a higher dose of the Emsam help?
Before when I tried the whole 6mg Emsam (started at that dose before), it made me manic.
The antimanic meds (Depakote, Klonopin, etc. make me depressed). I can't take Topamax, Trileptal or Lamictil either.
What should I do? Does anyone know if there are more meds in the works that will be in patch form?
I am desperate. I don't know how much longer I can go on feeling this way.

Most people here have found EMSAM to be useless except at 9mg+

Try low(er) doses. I mean it would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people if like, doctors would prescribe like 1/4 of the regular dose of lithium to people who don't respond well to the regular dose.

Just be careful with the Emsam. My hubby went off his cold turkey and it was horrible. Emsam is a strong drug.
