I have been on the 6mg patch for quite some time and after about 3 -4 week, I finally was getting the results I wanted. BUT - I have terrible muscle stiffness and tension in my shoulders and left arm. I have even had 2 MRIs done to show me that nothing is wrong!
Do you think the muscle tension and stiffness will go away if I go down to 3mg (half of a patch) and either regular doses of Xanax or Klonopin?
I really need something that I can take and I have taken everything. This seems to be the only thing that really helps - but I can't take the physical pain.

Sheila if your doc ordered the MRI's sees nothing wrong and knows you're in pain what does he suggest? Does he not believe you? Phillipa

Could be a different cause but I have the same symptom and mine goes away when I'm drinking enough water. It's not an issue when I'm not using EMSAM. I think it increases the tendency for cartilage inflamation resulting in nerve pinching...DUnno why..just a guess.

I'm guessing in order for the muscle tension to go away, I am going to have to stop using the Emsam.
This is the end of the thread.
