Panic Attacks on Provigil? Panic in General?

Posted by DogGirl on November 16, 2007, at 10:01:28

I took Provigil two days in a row (100 mg in the AM) and got horrible panic attacks by three in the afternoon lasting til Xanax helped me pass out at 10 p.m. Also, felt like I was on speed all day, which I hate! Though I'm prone to going through cycles of Panic Attacks, I hadn't been getting them for a couple of years. Today I took half a pill to see what happens. Trying to combat my need to sleep 12 hours a day (really cuts into my life!) Anyone out there who has experienced this? I'm also looking for people who experience Panic Attacks, as I don't have a single friend who understands.

I've taken Provigil a couple of times before and got no real effect from it at all. What can you all tell me?

DogGirl,

I can relate to what you are going through, my depression has a lot of fatigue and brain fog , as well as alot of anxiety. Unfortuantely stimulants like provigil, adderall, and ritalin make the anxiety unbearable and provoke more panic. I started taking low dose of Serzone, which has helped the panic, but also now and then causes a lot of fatigue. If you come up with any answers I would love to hear about them myself.

By the way, panic attacks have to be hands down the worst thing I have ever experienced, I would much rather float through life exhausted than constantly having panic , where you feel like you are going to die!

I have terrible anxiety attacks. I get them in waves it seems like, for months on and then months off. When I started taking my zoloft, they got really bad and I tried lowering my dose against my dr's orders.... what she then told me to do, was to take half in the morning and then the other half later in the afternoon. It has helped with the anxiety a whole lot. My body seems to finally be adjusting to the medication after a few weeks, so hopefully yours will do the same!

DogGirl,

Provigil was the most difficult med for me to get adjusted to. The very first day I took, it induced a strong kind of euphoriant effect which followed by a huge crash. Crash was horrible, I felt like thrashing my remaining pills. But I don't know what gave me enough patience to go through with the same stuff. I carried on suffering crashes and dyphoria that followed after each crash. Finally within a month, my patience has been rewarded. I would testify with the whole of my heart, Provigil is the best ever med I have taken for my condition.

This doesn't mean I don't experience low downs any more. But they are bearable. Sometimes it provokes anxiety, but that too is soothed by taking a little bit of either Ativan or Xanax. There are days I don't feel anything on Provigil. Just like a placebo. But I always keep in mind "tomorrow is always another day" And it is.
