I was just looking into taking this for sleep purposes when I came across information that long-term use of this medication can lead to TD. Maybe that's why this isn't used more. Now I'm worried about using cetirizine (Zyrtec) because it's a metabolite of hydroxyzine.

Do you have a link to info on such side effects? I would think the incidence of TD with hydroxyzine would be in the rare category. Its not a dopamine antagonist.
It is possible that because hydroxyzine is somtimes used allongside neuroleptics that it has become associated with TD.
