Just curious if anyone has tried the antidepressant Stablon (Tianeptine). It apparently does a lot of good things for the brain regardless of whether it helps someone's mood or not and it is made by a manufacturer that seems to come out with quite unique meds. As with all meds, the literature and research on it looks real good, but I am interested in real world stories from real people.

I tried Tianeptine several years ago. I can't say I had much success with it though. It feels different from ssri's. The only negative side effect was tachycardia, nothing scary but I could notice it sometimes. It has an anxiolytic effect but different from a benzo. As an antidepressant I didn't feel it was worth the expense and hassle of importing it.

Hi,
Tianeptine was marvelous against my depression. But I also felt a big surge in anxiety. The overal impression I got was that in increases sensitivity. A little too much for my liking.
Cheers, Maria

No effects at all, no side effects, no benefits for me. Cecilia

I took tianeptine for the best part of two years. The effect changed over time.
To begin with I took 3 tablets a day and from then on it was mostly 4.
It had a mildly prosocial effect where I just felt better.
I didn't need to stick it out or anything like that. I knew from the first dose that it was good for me.
But after a year or so I found myself feeling more weirdness and anxiety from it. So I cut down without difficulty to half the dose. Some people find it makes them feel not quite right, or really weird.
Eventually I stopped it.

i took it for several months as an ssri alternative b/c i hate the emotional numbing/blunting from ssri's.. it was very mellow and a little warm-feeling, no increase in anxiety and perhaps a decrease. the reason i eventually stopped it, oddly enough, is that it made me feel SO in touch with my emotions that i was crying all the time and just overcome (to be fair a lot was going on in my life at the time). i seemed to just start going up and down, up and down, while on this med, which i had never had with other antidepressants. i have no idea the reason(s) for this, but it was an interesting experience. very, very few side effects, maybe a little constipation, but nothing like ssri insomnia, nausea, headaches, and lack of ability to cry.
