Strange reaction to Lithium and Lamictal

Hello everyone
I'm diagnosed BP2 with depression as the main symptom. I can't tolerate antidepressants so my pdoc has been trying mood stabilizers. On both Lithium and Lamictal (the two with anti-depressant qualities) I've become irritable and agitated and end up having to take a Xanax or two to level out--this is at the lowest starting dose for both. Has anyone else experienced this, or have a comment.
