Med thought you were going to get in touch with me? And wellbutrin and abilify sound to me like a bipolar combo is that your diagnosis? Love Phillipa

I tried to Babblemail you, but my babblemail is turned off...I don't know how to turn it on...
if I can figure out how to get my Babblemail settings fixed, I'll babblemail you.

As for the combo--yeah, I'm bipolar, and I've been considering asking about Wellbutrin b/c even though I'm doing quite well, my energy levels have dropped off significantly since starting the meds. I think its some kind of mixture of a post-manic crash and med-induced lethary (mild, but kind of problematic at times).

SO...can you tell me how to fix my babblemail? I do in fact think I know a doc who would be great for you.

Hi medempowered,
I was taking 10 mg of abilify for several mos, then I added 150mg bupropionSR about 4 weeks ago.

Immediately I felt more suicidal, and part of that I attribute to medication. mostly life stressors though.

After about a week the feelings began to fade. Then I noticed an abrupt improvement in my anxiety levels.

For the first 2-3 weeks I was more twitchy than usual, also with some hand tremors, but this has gone away. I feel really good on my current cocktail

300mg caffeine (split, of course :)
100mg zoloft
150mg wellbutrin SR
300mg lamictal
10 mg abilify

with prn zyprexa zydis 10mg and klonopin .5 mg

-Ll

hope it works well for you!

I haven't gotten on the Wellbutrin yet; just something I'm considering...did your doc mention any interactions w/ the Abilify? Like, did you have more neuroleptic side effects (I note you mentioned more shaky hands--do you think that was a neuroleptic thing or a stimulant thing?)
Basically, I'm trying to keep things simple, but still up my energy levels. Do you think adding wellbutrin for "energy" is a bad call? I'm not *actually* depressed, just feeling anergic and all the coffee in the world doesn't seem sufficient to fix it. I thought about Provigil, but the co-pay is kind of high and I don't know that my doc would go for it...plus I saw some studies that seem to indicate its not much better than caffeine.

Thanks for responding. Also...I dig that you have as-needed zyprexa. Whose idea was it? I'm having some probs with residual agitation that the Abillfy doesn't quite fix, so I was thinking about asking for a sample pack of...something...for agitation. Why the zydis? Do you get neuroleptic side effects, or is it just the tranquilization that you get?

Thanks in advance. :-)

nope

>Like, did you have more neuroleptic side effects (I note you mentioned more shaky hands--do you think that was a neuroleptic thing or a stimulant thing?)

Perhaps a bit of both? I had some EPS when I was on seroquel 300mg for 4 mos. That went away when I quit seroquel (then geodon, now abilify). The shaky hands were more like a trembling than a tremor, sorry hard to describe, but the shaky hands were more like that which accompanies caffeine overdose than EPS.

I had a LOT of apathy before I added wellbutrin. I think perhaps wellbutrin unleashed a bit of the hypomanic beast in me. Sadly, my cat just died, so I don't have any more hypomania. Although, I was able to clean up the whole bedroom and make a chocolate cake (and eat it too) today. ((((RIP KITTY))))

Pdoc's idea. Actually it hadn't occured to me to try a prn antipsychotic. You see, I get these occasional episodes of terrifying flashbacks with depersonalization, suicidal ideation, self-injury, etc. It gets messy. so I have zydis. 10 mg, "gets into your system quickly" said the pdoc. yeppers. he's right. takes about 15 minutes. But then, if you've ever sat with someone who has had an intramuscular injection of haldol, you know that it takes a good 5 mins for THAT to do the trick.

klonopin?

I just get tranquilization

you're most welcome. thanks for your interest. As far as I know, I'm the only one taking antipsychotic candy on this forum... :)

Agitation

What is it?

Feeling (very very) upset?

It's not anxiety, is it?

Something to do with lack of peace?

I get this thing where any conceivable action brings from me the feeling
'Oh, no no no no no. I couldn't possibly do that.'
If you get too much of that feeling you just shut down.

Sometimes it feels like a big effort to even think...it seems better to just stare at the pretty colours, the sky and the plants.

Memantine may help with that, but I think you're already in the process of looking into it.

Yes.

I was thinking about 'anticipatory anhedonia' when I wrote that.

It is the single best thing for me about opiates.
Spontaneous action became so very much easier.
