Anyone experience this when young 20's twice just slept after some trauma sick baby knowing a marriage would break up and did nothing but lay on the couch for two weeks then felt better even if it was tough to get going again was on 5mg of valium at the time. Second time cold turkeyed valum, placidyl two a night and red wine. All prescribed by a doc. But I was better why? Any ideas? Phillipa ps knew nothing at all about meds or nursing.

I always feel quite overwhelmed if i oversleep and get off of schedule. sounds like you always have something interesting going on even if its stressful maybe you just need some time to think it through.

D/r that's what I came to also at the time. It worked for me. hence why now try and stay constantly busy as if lay down that would be it for probably the two weeks again. Thanks for the response. Love Phillipa

20-30 years ago, sleep therapy was used as an exotic way to improve depression. Sleep was induced chemically. Sometimes, tricyclic antidepressants were infused simultaneously. I don't recall what the period of the artificial sleep was. However, I do know one person who was stuck in depression who responded well to the treatment and remained well for a few years until mania emerged.

Definitely no mania with the baby went back on the valium and was calmer to try and care her hyperactivity and projective vomiting after each feeding. She was in and out of the hospital first months of life as cried 24 hours straight each day and held her but still had two young kids. She popped a hernia as the doc let her cry in his office and then surgery and they sent her to Yale for two weeks thought failure to thrive. But the nurse's could not get any weight on her either. Said she was so sensitive they had the isolet covered and if she peed immediately had to be changed. Was two months old then. Said not one person by themself could care for her. Mother-in law said she would come but never took care of her was out doing things all day. I managed to get three pounds on her that month. Second time was trying to decide if I should stay in an associates program for nursing, or bachelors or diploma. Chose the diploma and felt so strange returning to college classes but dropped the nursing for that years even though Dean's List. When you're kicked out of a program for being home with a sick child as two other students were it was just to much and they each only missed one class. There was a third episode when knew divoce from marriage of 21 years knew was over sat in a chair and stared at nothing but the outdoors then my pdoc said get out of the marriage. Didn't immediately a few months later that's when the pdoc said get out as my husband was going on vacation with his girlfriend. And had just returned from one I paid for with two of my kids wanted to treat the ex. He stayed home didn't want to go. Now know why. Phillipa
