I convinced my doctor to let me try nardil for SP.
But I'm currently on adderall and guanfacine.
He said wait two weeks after stopping the adderall and guan before starting the nardil.
Is he being overly cautious?
Adderall half life is 14 hours and guanfacine is 17 hrs. It seems like 4 days should be enough. I think guanfacine's interaction w/ nardil is worse or less well understood than adderall.
So... how long should I wait?

I think you can feel safe starting Nardil immediately after you discontinue these drugs. It would take a few days before the Nardil even begins to inhibit the MAO enzyme.
Acutally, I believe you can take both of these drugs along with Nardil.

theres no reason to wait, you can start the next day.
i'm laughing at how silly the ideas are some docs have about MAOIS are. And yet if they actually think these measure increase saftey, they must be rather ignorant of how the drugs work. Caution isn't really a good substitute for knowledge.
sorry, i guess it was just funny since i talked to my pdoc yesterday. i had been on parnate when i first started with him, and haven't been able to get him to add anything except trazodone and clonazapam, even though i really need something for adhdi. i can't even get guanfacine - and i keep clonidine around for hypertensive emergencies, and guanfacine just a more selective version of that. he finally told me ysterday he was an expert witness in a malpractice trial when some kid who was on an MAOI had a reaction to something, but i got him to agree to 'consult' with another pdoc about adding a tca. (he had been wanting me to drop the parnate and try a stimulant with paxil, the ssri i haven't had)
