Are all my happy receptors dead.

Posted by Meltingpot on March 9, 2009, at 11:45:30

Hi,

Since 2005 I've not really felt happy, not really looked forward to anything or really enjoyed anything and I'm not getting any better.

On medication I still feel depressed and off medication I feel awful, completely empty and weak, can't get interested in anything.

Seroxat started to work for me in 2003 after two years of trying just about everything. It worked in the sense that I started going out, had increased interest, more relaxed, laughing again and socialising, started to want to do things again, going on holidays and just felt like I was enjoying life. Then in 2005 it stopped working and anhedonia set in.

Since then I've tried adding buspar and lamictal and lots of other drugs to know avail. The only drug I can really rely on to get me out of the pits is Zyprexa. But I just can't seem to enjoy myself the way I did between 2003 to 2005.

I'm now taking clomipramine and have been on it for a week but my gut feeling tells me that it's just not going to help that much. I have more energy on it than off it and I don't feel quite so empty but it just feels like I felt on Seroxat when it stopped working.

Please tell me there are other medication options. I don't understand why the Seroxat stopped working.

Honestly? I don't know but are you still able to work? That could help in the indication of severity of depression???? Love Phillipa

I think you should try Wellbutrin. Or at least some that works on NA og DA

Hi,

I'm really sorry to hear that the Seroquel stopped working for your psychosis, have you managed to find a replacement?

Hi Alexander,

I tried Wellbutrin and it didn't seem to do anything. What DA drugs would you suggest?

Thanks....Denise

Denise,

Everyone is different, but Effexor XR (http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/effexor/default.htm) worked best for me. There is an AD patch EMSAM (http://www.fda.gov/cder/Offices/ODS/MG/Emsam.pdf)that is supposed to work well, although I have not tried it.
