OK - I'm confused - I've been off all meds for 3 weeks, and I feel pretty good except I have very little patients with a lot of little things. I don't feel depressed, and feel less anxiety than when I was on medication. I'm supposed to start Nardil this Thursday, and now I'm not sure if I should. I do still have difficulty sleeping, but feel much better than I did even while on ADs. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I was on 100mg of Imipramine and 24mg of Zoloft.

I wouldn't if I felt that good. A little impatience is nothing. Don't mess with a good thing.

I'd wait also. Could be a delayed reaction. Phillipa

Nothing wrong with that.
It sometimes occurs that people will feel a mood lift - or even mania - after discontinuing an antidepressant, particularly with the tricyclics. It is a sort of withdrawal rebound improvement that can last for a few days to a few weeks. However, I would probably be reluctant to start another antidepressant if I were in your situation. I guess it depends on your history.

OK - I'll change the little patients to anger - although I've never recognized it as such. Now if I can just find out why I'm angry. I'm still nervous that this is temporary and that the depression will come back full force - not sure why I just can't let nature take it's course without trying to second guess what's going to happen.
Thanks Everyone.

I have heard and read about several cases of people who did get better after they stopped taking their meds. But this was specifically with SSRI's. They weren't doing that great on the meds anymore (the drugs had worked really well, for a certain period of time), so they stopped (usually to try something else etc) and actually felt better. I'm wondering, with those folks, if the medications had actually "fixed" the biochemistry, and staying on the drugs longterm just wasn't needed anymore, and was in fact too much. I have no explanation for it. AND it certainly wasn't my experience when I stopped paxil. So, who knows, we are all so different when it comes to these drugs.

OK - so today I'm doing very bad - I feel like I'm going to vomit and everything people say to me feels very personal and hurtful. I think that logically I know that I'm mis interpreting but at an emotional level - I'm feeling very agitated. Thank god I have an appointment today at 4:15PM

I would go back on all my meds and not tell the doctor anything.
