NARDIL and Lack of Sleep?

Posted by angels78 on May 29, 2010, at 22:00:57

Hey everyone.

Can lack of sleep or taking Ambien to help sleep, prevent the theurpatic effects from Nardil? I have been taking 20 mg of ambien a night, one at 10PM to go to bed and the other when I wake up 4 hours later (thanks to nardil) at 2 am, I was wondering if the Ambien could be hindering the therapeutic effects of Nardil because the last week it feels like i've been less social and don't feel like the Nardil is helping as it was prior. Any help would be great, thanks!

When I take ambien at night the next day I feel really relaxed, maybe a little too relaxed, maybe thats why im not as social with the nardil when i'm not on ambien...but how am i going to go to sleep on Nardil with this insomnia if i dont use a sleeping pill?

Hi Angel,
I have been taking Nardil for most of the past 12 years. I have always used something for sleep. Right now I rotate between 50mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride(Benadryl) and 12.5mg of quetiapine fumarate (Seroquel). In the past I have used 100mg of trazodone(Desyrel). I am really sensitive to the histamine receptor medications, so your mileage may vary.

I do find that rotating the medications seems to help me keep efficacy for sleep. I will probably get another scrip for trazodone, since Seroquel is so expensive even at micro doses.

I have also used Ambien XR, but it does not seem to work as well for me as the histamine blockers.

Good Luck,
Jedi
