Parnate disconuation

Posted by fired on November 16, 2010, at 20:23:46

Due to some bureaucratic mix ups, I'm going to have to stop my Parnate for who knows how many days.

How long after I stop it until I start experiencing withdrawal symptoms? I take 60 mg/day, 30mg x 2.

Help please

I'm so sorry to learn that you will have to go without your medication soon! How upsetting! I guess I'm lucky in that I've been able to hold it together enough to keep just enough money flowing in to cover the high cost of Parnate, but if it ends up working for me, I would do anything shy of holding up a pharmacy in order to be able to maintain a recovery.

May I ask what your experience with Parnate has been like? How long have you been on it? Do you augment it with other meds? Are you what you would consider in "remission" while taking Parnate?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been told that I should be getting the Parnate soon -- thank goodness.

I've been on Parnate for 22 years. No complete remission, but I have other health problems (sleep apnea ans PLMD, to name a couple).

I once tried stopping Parnate at the suggestion of a cardiologist. Nothing worked, and Lexapro and, Cymbalta made me worse. Effexor help with the Depression, but triggered hypomania. Some say Bipolar, but if so, it's a very hypomanic type.

I personally would never take an SSRI. They are like poison to me. Same for Cymbalta. I take Folic Acid and B12, also, but their value is hard to assess. Lamictal was added after my experience with Effexor, and it helps some. Clonazepam for sleep, due to Parnate's stimulating effects, is a necessity. I've been on it for about 14 years. Have never gone above 2mg at bedtime. Wouldn't give it up for anything at this point.

Glad to hear your med is going to continue. Will you have a gap?

Can you split your doses across any gap to ward off complete withdrawal?
