so i've been whining on these boards for the last couple weeks that i've not felt well...blah blah, feeling blue. and on my charts slight down but only that...slight. seemed i thought i was worse but apparently not.
i got a severe cold last week and was off work friday yesterday and today so far.HOWEVER, im deeming myself as having had my 1940's girl slap also this weekend. As due to some E L E C T R O N I C snafu... i put in for refill of two meds last monday and gave script for adderall on monday. well they were out of adderall (as were the 5 other chains, odd but thats where my paranoia slowly seeped in later as you will read). said to check again in 4 days. thursday.
by wed. i ran out of adderall. still not in and said it should be in by that following monday.
by thursday i was going to run out of perphenazine so i to that only thursday night so i would have one for friday night, when hopefully my meds would be automatically refilled.
then friday, no pristiq either. ran out.
and still snafu with notification.
So i was off ALL major meds(pristiq, perphenazine, adderall) except gabapentin Friday, sat, sun, and yesterday.I have done almost nothing but sleep for four days. friday all day and all night. i woke up once to eat (try) dinner. saturday was the worst in pain, severe headaches, eyes jumping around, Hot flashes began, Sunday: bursts of sudden crying, and i slowed down cognitively, in the way that i walked and talked to slower than snail pace.
i could hardly function.***************************
Monday i went to GP for cold sinus thing, they were going to give me samples of pristiq but yes, they were out...
i finally contacted pdoc personally yesterday (was only in contact with office before...the snarky lady in office..ugh) and within 2 hours of my talking with him he got meds refilled. but due to my humble DUMBNESS i couldnt understand how to restart. as i assumed that from 0-to-60 in one day would probably wind me in hospital.
so i had to contact office (this time nice evening lady) to tell me (SLOWLY preferably written down) how to re-start meds.
I was saddened to know that i cannot start pristiq again till 23rd. started perphenazine lastnight adderall this morning taking only twice today then TID tomorrow. and not start pristiq till friday. So will have been off pristiq one week.*******************
SO. 1.just wanted to post what i've been up to
2. dont let me bi^Ch about the little stuff again
3. Dont trust auto refill! keep closer tabs.
4. Dont wait, take to other pharmacy for one time refill if needed.
now i'm going to go back to sleep for a while and then get up and try to fold some clothes.i guess i've had it better than i remember. wheni start complaining again, remind me about this episode...
the at home and in bed typing...chica

I would urge everybody to keep a weeks supply of meds in hand incase of situations like this.... refil your scripts a day or two early and "bank" the pills untill you have 14 days supply in reserve.
This should cover you for doctors being away, pharmacies running out of stock, and, god forbid, natural disasters (think hurricaine katrina)

wise wise WISE words my friend.
i normally have extra adderall on hand but i ran out the friday before, but i knew i'd see pdoc and so i used up my extra adderall then when i saw him and got script monday i was really erked that not only THEY but 5 other fricken chains in the city were out. i mean COMON' what are the odds. but...
i was lucky that i was actually almost out of pristiq as well, so pharmacy guy that i see all the time said he was able to give me a couple to last till friday. but due to me not checking my count or something i only had enough to last till thursday. then when friday came i was SURE pdoc would approve refill and i'd be ok. then Sat...then i called sun just thinking maybe i missed something. etc etc.man. not again.
however normally pdoc gives me several refills on these and i noticed that both are one month only refills? not sure if due to the auto-refill thing or if this is how he did it this time since he didnt actually see me? idk.

ya, saturday was the worst for head zaps. what was weird is the visual and brain shocks happened at the same time. its literally like i was getting shock treatments to my head (though i've never had ect so i dont know for that) but it felt like i'd get zapped in my head and my vision would go in an out and id be almost dazed for a few second (minutes who knows).
i swear i was dying. between the severe headaches, nausea, hot flashes, weird vision and shocks i cant believe i didnt have a seizure or something. hell maybe i was?
but also to answer phillipa, my guess is the perphenazine and adderall are faster acting and he wanted to get me started back to the living again. and i KNEW since two are major stimulants that i shouldnt be starting all three at the same time again as if no time had been lost. endangering cardiac blah blah stuff.
i guess also since pristiq works off of having set amount in bloodstream anyway, that even a week off will still be ok... but the others, since they are in and out of system, he wanted to get me back on those first, then pristiq last due to build up.
ok. i thought i was sounding better tonight, typing faster but now i sound like my words are not quite connnected. so forgive me if this not sounds good.
i'll be around tomorrow.
i'm taking off work tomorrow too. just to get me back in the game.i felt about as smart as a box of tomatoes today at work.

Are you feeling any better tonight? (you know, a little better, not all better.)
You restart pristiq in two more days? One more day?
This is called catastrophe as in star-crossed.
I have learned not to trust the auto refill thing recently myself.
Glad you are up to posting.

In reply to Pristiq brain zaps. and vision same for me? » floatingbridge, posted by B2chica on September 20, 2011, at 22:12:30
Our posts crossed. I wrote the last before seeing this one.
But....
You went to work? Crumbs. Guess you had to. Well, you sound fine to me in your post, better than earlier today, but maybe it's because the first post shocked me so.
Is there a brain zap theory?
And the visual thing. Like the senses are compensating to align with dissonant signals from the brain. I don't know.
I am so sorry, Chica.

i only made it at work for a couple hours. even the lab manager said ya you're no looking 100%".
anyway, the brain zaps for me were like feeling an electrical "charge". so it wasn't really pain for me, not like a zap so much.
i dont know if anyones ever actually gotten shocked before. my grandparents had a farm and some areas had electric fence to keep cows in. of course as a kid your dared to touch the fence. (ps dont EVER grab the fence line with your hand it will naturally curl and you will end up grabbing the fence line and get a really bad shock) but i put my foot on it. will Never forget that feeling. not so much pain but i felt this ...this charge that shot through my body.thats actually what it felt like in my head...a sort of electrical shock, a charge that quickly felt inside my head, and at the same time my eyes would sort of maybe zoom in and out, or ....shift? somehow.
i dont know what got me on this but i'd really like to explain how it felt so bare with me.so i felt that 'charge' and the eye thing at the same time. when that would happen its almost like i lost some time. even if it was a few seconds? not sure, but after it...dissapated? i felt not quite aware of things. my level of awareness slowly came back.
However the one great thing that came of this is i came up with a Great research idea for maybe identifying the efficacy of medication.
im going to try to write it up and present it to my boss to see if he would give it a try.
it would mean branching out into the psychology field and my boss is close to retirement so i'm not sure he's would agree. but he may be able to point me to someone who would. The thing is...i dont have a PhD so i cant initiate this on my own. Need phd to get grant funds. HOWEVER on the other hand NIH is really into collaborative grant funds, and joining up the the field of psychology is a Great....GREAT concept. The research idea that i have may even be up to a 10 year study, with many follow up studies(ive though of at least 8 already), lasting who knows how long.
i wish i could team up with Dr.Bob. I hope that whomever might pick this idea up would be willing to allow me to be second author on any publications. but thats a pipe dream. i'm just the grunt. However, id give that up if someone would take ths study on and allow me to be involved, as my concept is quite complex.
sorry went on tangent.
thanks
b2c.

don't forget lapsis in insurance. Where you are transitioning from one to other, and you don't realy have coverage. Thats why I stockpile all my meds. I have about a 6 month supply of most of my meds. Just incase of anything. I don't want to run out.

thanks Z i didnt know that.
and i'm not sure how you all stock pile so much of meds. i normally have a week or two extra.i think i know how a person would do this but i dont think we'd be allowed to say it for harmful reasons?
anyway, thanks

My pdoc soon to retire always prescribes a higher dose of the meds I'm on to save me money so can break them and they last twice as long or sometimes 4x as long. Hence have lots of my meds also. Phillipa

I would get 90 day supplies. Every time I switched to a new insurance plan, its like starting over fresh so you can order a new prescrition, even is you had just filled one on the old plan. Over the years my stock pile has built up. I would never take more than I should. Just like the security of having them. Like if I became uninsured.

I did the same as Philipa also, with some of my prescriptions.
