Anyone had issues with eating peanut butter while taking an MAOI. I've read all the recent food lists and didn't see anything about avoiding peanuts and peanut butter. I just ate a pb&j sandwich and immediately felt awful so I Googled peanut butter & MAOI and sure enough it's on a bunch of different food restriction lists I didn't read. I'm not sure if I am overreacting because I am overly sensitive about every little thing right now or if I should legitimately be concerned. I currently have a sharp headache, throat tightness, and feel flush. My husband just went to the store to get a bp monitor. Hopefully I'm just being dramatic. :)
For those of you that have experienced a spike in blood pressure from levels of high tyramine, at what point did you go to the emergency room? I don't want to mess around but really don't want to go to the ER if I could just wait it out. My pdoc didn't give me any pills to lower my bp. Is that typical?

I think I've eaten more peanut butter while I was taking Nardil than in my entire life before taking it. ;-)
Well, that's probably an exaggeration, but no, I never had any problems. Sounds like a red herring, but I have no idea so please don't take my word for it.
There are lots of things that have ended up on "the list" that really shouldn't be there. There's a revised MAOI diet out there somewhere.
This is the end of the thread.
