I started at 20mg. Side effects in the beginning included waking up in the middle of the night, morning anxiety and stomach discomfort. It actually reminded me very much of how I felt whenever I started an SSRI. After a few days these effects went away, and I felt a significant lift in mood. Unfortunately this did not last more than a couple days. I went up to 40mg, and basically the same thing happened. In the end I was feeling worse so abandoned the idea of taking Latuda. It's approved for bipolar depression now but it just didn't seem to agree with me. I told my doctor I'm not trying any more atypicals, been on plenty of them and the benefits are usually minimal with too many sides.
I'm not writing this to discourage anyone from trying Latuda, just wanted to share my experience. I recently started gabapentin and so far I like it.
