Valacyclovir

Posted by Beckett on September 17, 2014, at 16:22:42

Does anyone have experience with this medication? I tested high in HHV 6.

After two days, I find myself mentally unwell (besides in bed again). Could an agent like this cause such a plummet? Will the reaction's intensity drop after time?

Ironically, I've been feeling well enough to seek treatment for long standing fatigue.

Depression is listed as a potential side effect.

Hope you feel better soon,

Lots of info on the web. Sounds a lot like the testing for chronic lymes. Phillipa

P,

What do you mean about testing for Lymes? Do you believe in herxheimer reactions? I don't understand the science and am not sure such a reaction exists. At least not for antivirals.

Anyways, when he called back, he explained my reaction as an herxheimer.

How does someone know that they are not having a reaction to the medication?

Don't feel ever had a herxheimer reaction to any of the meds given me for lymes disease. Although the antibiotic supposedly is the reason for the loss of taste and smell according to the infection control doctor. Biaxin xl lists it as a rare side effect.

The test you had with IGA & IGG is the same sort that I had for lymes. P

I'm not too sure about the herxheimer explanation. I feel 500% better today; however, I'm consulting a second physician.

Lymes is a bacteria? I thought it was a virus.

If given an antibiotic wouldn't this mean bacteria? I will check though. Glad you feel better today. P

Grrrrr. I just wrote a long post and lost it. Updated my tablet and now the keys freeze up.

Anyways, thanks for that link. According to the article, herpesviruses are a suspected implication, so it seems my treatment is according to a protocol. Odd, because I've only had chicken pox, and that was when I was about seven.

I was wondering if your Lymes tests come out clear now. I think you've told me. Lymes is very complex, isn't it ? I just had the western blot and was told the accuracy rate is higher.

Also Western Blot. Last time done a few years ago the IGG still positive but may never go away. What should be watched to make sure no new infection would be indicated by a rise in the IGG. It's so compllcated. I had 8 positive bands last time. But no treatment. Seems not being done much especially here where they claim it doesn't exist. P
