Anything for dissociation?

Posted by MM on December 6, 2006, at 1:55:36

It seems to me that a large component of my anxiety is caused by "dissociating" or being worried about dissociating at the wrong time. I think it's mild (rather than the sort of completely numb kind...I've had a few episodes of this, seemingly to do with medication withdrawal, etc.) but it's enough that it makes me uneasy/unsure and therefor more anxious. Is there anything that might be helpful for this specifically? Or could it be related to ADHD (as I've read that ADHD manifests as more "spaciness" in women)? I can't handle the "cracked out" feeling I get on stimulants though. Any thoughts?

I've never found anything in the drug department, in fact drugs make it worse for me in the long run.

I have had some long term success with supplements and diet over a 6 year period, but no magic bullet.

Tianeptine has been as helpful as anything.

I don't think we get Tianeptine in the states but I'll keep it in mind. I think Wellbutrin helps with the dissociation but I'm not sure I'm going to keep taking it, (it's kind of a wonderdrug for me in some ways and in others I'm really wary of it). Anyway, thanks Declan.

I have found that choline bitrate is very good for dissociation. 500mg once or twice a day. It can make some people a litle depressed, but I don't get that effect at all.

Anticholinergics are deleriants and dissociatives, so enhancing cholinergic activity may help (?)
