Tolerating Ambiguity

Posted by llurpsienoodle on May 9, 2008, at 8:18:25

Sorry for rambling.
Here's an outline of the post
1. tolerating ambiguity- psychopharmacological support
2. lifestyle modifications to improve motivation
3. where to go next in therapy?

1. Wellbutrin has been very good for my anxiety. I have come to speculate that the anxiety stemmed from apathy to choose between two competing alternatives (what should I do- get dressed or stay in bed and play on babble). Well, now I can decide and I DO decide to get up and get dressed (and THEN play on babble :)

2. Aside from the medication, I'm wondering what I can do life-style-wise to help me get ready for a busy summer -- I'll be working 2 jobs starting in 2 weeks, and doing babysitting too.

3. How can therapy help me with that? I feel like most of therapy in the past few months has been aimed at me a) accepting that I have emotions, which are strong occasionally, and swing from one pole to the other; b) stop beating myself up that I have psychiatric symptoms; c) support for when my kitty got hit by a car

Tolerating ambiguity in life- choosing between alternatives
Tolerating ambiguity in therapy- not really having an "agenda" since symptom management is going well, and life is going well too... (well, I can always talk about self-injury. ugh)

anyhoo...

musings? reactions?

Glad life is going well!!!!! I remember you had some big stuff you were dealing with at the end with your last T, but you might not want to dive into that again if you're doing well. But that's something that's there. Also, the things you listed sound like a LOT of stuff. Tolerating ambiguity in life is hard... as is not beating yourself up... therapy will hopefully help with both!

Maybe you could make some type of goal for yourself everyday. Each day you could do a little more.
Llurps, I totally understand the non motivated thing. It is something I am trying to work on as well.

Sounds like you have a full summer schedule why not take this time and do whatever you want to do. Love Phillipa
